Vienna, Austria, 3 June 2020 — The Supervisory Board of Semperit AG Holding appointed Gabriele Schallegger (48) as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as of 12 October 2020. Her term of office will end on 31 October 2023.

Born in Austria, she studied Business Administration in Graz and Exeter (England) and completed several international management programmes, including one in St. Gallen (Switzerland).

Gabriele Schallegger was most recently Finance Director of the Uncoated Fine Paper Business Unit at the paper and packaging group Mondi, where she previously held the position of CFO of Mondi Syktyvkar in Russia as well as Finance Director of the Kraft Paper Business Unit.

Gabriele Schallegger started her career in auditing and tax consulting at Arthur Andersen in Vienna. Subsequently she worked for the American pharmaceutical company Baxter and the Norwegian Orkla Foods Group, among others. Her career has taken her to Belgium, Poland, Germany, India and Russia.

“With Ms. Schallegger, we have been able to win an extremely competent and experienced financial expert with a strong operational focus, who has proven herself over the years in various industries, countries and business situations. Due to her diverse international experience with publicly listed companies, she is ideally suited to effectively shape the further development of the company,” says Walter Koppensteiner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Semperit AG Holding.

Ms. Schallegger succeeds Petra Preining, who had taken over this position on an interim basis and will return to the Supervisory Board and Audit Committee of Semperit AG Holding in October after Gabriele Schallegger has joined.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Preining for her great and successful commitment at Semperit: she continues to develop the content of the CFO agenda and  pushes ahead major projects that will make a significant contribution to the good positioning of the company. Ms. Preining also makes an important contribution to the successful management of the corona crisis at Semperit,” says Koppensteiner.
